FAQs

FAQs

Q
What precision standards do your gears follow? How are precision grades applied?
A
Our gears comply with GB/T 10095 and ISO 1328 standards. Mass-produced gears achieve Grade 7–8, precision ground gears reach Grade 5–6, and ultra-precision servo gears attain Grade 4. Grade 8 fits general machinery; Grade 7 suits reducers and automated equipment; Grade 5–6 applies to machine tools and new energy transmission systems; Grade 4 is reserved for ultra-precision instruments and high-end CNC equipment requiring minimal backlash.
Q
What is the difference between gear hobbing and gear grinding?
A
Hobbing is an efficient, cost-effective process with Ra ≤ 3.2μm roughness for standard Grade 7–8 gears, ideal for general and medium-load applications. Grinding is a high-precision finishing process that corrects heat-treatment deformation, achieves Ra ≤ 0.8μm surface finish, and improves precision by 1–2 grades. It is mandatory for high-speed, low-noise, heavy-duty and long-service-life gear applications.
Q
What are profile and helix modification? Are they standard?
A
Profile and helix modification are premium optimization processes, not standard for ordinary gears. Profile modification reduces meshing impact, noise and interference. Helix modification compensates assembly deviation and load deformation to avoid partial tooth wear. We apply professional modification on high-speed, heavy-duty and precision silent gears to enhance stability, load capacity and service life.
Q
How do you match heat treatment with different gear materials?
A
We adopt material-specific heat treatment to balance surface hardness and core toughness. 45# steel uses high-frequency quenching (HRC45–52) for light-load intermittent operation. 40Cr steel with tempering and quenching delivers balanced performance for medium-load scenarios. 20CrMnTi carburizing quenching provides hard wear-resistant surfaces (HRC58–62) and tough cores (HRC30–35), making it ideal for high-speed heavy-duty gears. All processes use precision temperature-controlled furnaces to ensure stable mechanical performance.
Q
How do you control heat treatment deformation to guarantee precision stability?
A
We control deformation via three key steps: stress-relief pre-tempering, segmented heating/cooling quenching to minimize thermal stress, and reserved grinding allowance for post-treatment precision correction. This eliminates dimensional deviation and ensures zero precision loss in finished gears.
Q
What surface treatment options do you offer for different working conditions?
A
Black oxide finishing improves indoor wear and oxidation resistance. Galvanizing and chrome plating enhance corrosion resistance for humid and outdoor environments. Nitriding provides ultra-hard surfaces for high-speed precision gears. High-frequency and carburizing quenching strengthen heavy-duty wear resistance. All surface treatments preserve substrate mechanical properties and assembly accuracy.
Q
How do you control gear backlash for different applications?
A
We apply graded backlash control per industrial standards. Standard backlash balances stability for general transmission. Increased thermal expansion backlash prevents jamming in continuous high-speed operation. Minimal/zero backlash pairing ensures high positioning accuracy for servo and indexing systems. Enlarged backlash buffers impact loads for heavy machinery.
Q
What causes high-speed gear scoring and thermal damage, and how to prevent it?
A
Tooth scoring is mainly caused by lubrication film failure, excessive friction and high meshing temperature. We eliminate this risk by precision grinding for smoother tooth surfaces, optimizing meshing parameters, adopting high-wear-resistance alloys, and providing professional lubrication guidance for sustained high-speed stable operation.
Q
How to improve gear fatigue and fracture resistance under heavy alternating loads?
A
We enhance heavy-load gear durability through systematic optimization: high-strength alloy materials (20CrMnTi, 42CrMo), optimized tooth root transition to reduce stress concentration, carburizing strengthening for higher contact and bending fatigue strength, and precision modification for uniform load distribution. These measures effectively prevent pitting and tooth fracture for heavy-duty and mining equipment applications.
Q
What is your scope of non-standard gear customization?
A
We support full non-standard customization: module 0.5–40M, special pressure angles, custom addendum coefficients and modified gears. Product range includes spur, helical, spiral bevel, worm gears, splines, large-module heavy-duty gears and micro-precision gears. We optimize modification coefficients based on actual center distance, transmission ratio and load demands to solve installation and performance issues.
Q
Can you reverse-engineer and upgrade old gears without drawings?
A
Yes. Our reverse engineering includes dimensional replication, parameter verification and performance optimization. We measure key gear parameters, analyze original design defects and upgrade material and heat treatment solutions. The final replacement gears are fully interchangeable with original equipment while delivering improved durability and load capacity.
Q
Do you offer gear pair lapping and matching services?
A
Yes. We provide exclusive gear pair pairing, lapping and customized modification for high-end reducers and precision transmission equipment. Matched contact patterns and controlled backlash ensure uniform meshing, lower noise and higher transmission efficiency for complete machine assembly.
